Only 5 Days Left for Eligible April 2026 Newborns to Claim the NT$10,000 Universal Cash Handout — Deadline Is May 22!

The National Treasury Administration, Ministry of Finance, stated that newborns born domestically between April 1 and April 30, 2026, who hold birth certificates and whose mother or father is eligible for the NT$10,000 universal cash handout, must claim the NT$10,000 cash by May 22, 2026. Parents of eligible newborns who have not yet claimed it are urged to do so within the remaining five days, as late claims will neither be accepted nor reissued.

The NTA further stated that more than 7,500 eligible newborns were born domestically between April 1 and April 30, 2026. Of these, over 6,700 have already claimed the NT$10,000 universal cash handout, while more than 800 have yet to do so, representing a claim rate of 88.98%. The NTA urges parents of eligible newborns to complete the claim at post office counters by this Friday (May 22), as late claims will not be accepted.

The NTA explained that eligible birth mothers may claim the cash in person by presenting the newborn’s birth certificate (without prior birth registration) and a valid photo identification document. If the cash is claimed by the father or another representative, photo identification of the father or representative must also be presented in addition to the aforementioned documents.

If the birth mother is not eligible, the newborn’s birth registration must first be completed, after which the applicant should call the information service hotline 1988. Upon confirmation that the birth father meets the eligibility requirements, the 1988 service staff will notify the applicant to proceed with the claim. If the father claims the cash in person, he must present the newborn’s birth certificate and a valid photo identification document. If the mother or another representative claims the cash on behalf of the newborn, photo identification of the mother or representative must also be presented in addition to the aforementioned documents.

The NTA emphasized that post office savings and remittance counters will provide universal cash handout claim services only until 5:00 p.m. on May 22, 2026. As service hours may vary by branch, parents of eligible newborns are advised to check branch business hours in advance via the post office inquiry link (https://www.post.gov.tw/post/internet/I_location/index.jsp?ID=190107) and bring the required documents to claim the NT$10,000 cash before the deadline. If any issues arise during the claim process, please immediately call the information service hotline 1988 for assistance. The NTA further noted that following the conclusion of the “Cash For Everyone” program on May 22, the information service hotline 1988, post office counter services, and the official website (https://10000.gov.tw) will no longer be available.

The NTA would like to reiterate that the government will not send text messages or emails to notify individuals about receiving money or logging in, nor will they make phone calls requesting ATM or online banking transactions. It is crucial for the public to remain vigilant and not fall for these scams in order to prevent personal information theft or fraud. Please refer to the official website (https://10000.gov.tw) for information on the universal cash handout. If you receive any suspicious phone calls, text messages, or emails, please immediately call the Anti-Fraud Hotline at 165 or the information service hotline 1988 for verification to protect your rights.
