Enhance Administration of Tobacco and Alcohol
In response to economic liberalization and internationalization, as well as to facilitate Taiwan’s participation in the WTO, the monopoly system of tobacco and alcohol was abolished starting from January 1, 2002. Alcohol and tobacco production was opened to private production gradually. Since tobacco and alcohol products are relevant to public health, the MOF enacted the "Tobacco and Alcohol Administration Act," "Enforcement Rules of the Tobacco and Alcohol Administration Act" and related laws to supervise tobacco and alcohol products. In order to enhance consumers’ safety and to facilitate the abilities of alcohol producers, the MOF made relevant strategies and measures as well.
