1949 Patriot Bond
The 1949 Patriot Bond was the first government bond issued by the central government in Taiwan on August 1, 1949. This bond became the only bond that was denominated in Silver Yuan in Taiwan. Upon issuance of this bond, the introduction period of the New Taiwan Dollars had not reached two months.
The government therefore decided to issue this bond to balance the budget and stabilize the monetary system amid the serious depreciation of the Golden Yuan notes.
